I am a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in New York City and I specialize in providing individual and group psychotherapy to adults. Throughout my career, I have worked with varying presenting difficulties including perfectionism (self-exploitation, procrastination, burn-out), various addictive behaviors including substance use or internet/gaming, anxiety and/or depression, problems with self-esteem or self-worth, challenges around immigration and acculturation, problems around one’s identity or a sense of belonging, family conflict, grief/loss and coping with major life transitions.

I received my doctorate from Rutgers University with focus on contemporary Psychoanalytic and Gestalt therapies. I conducted research studies on the provision of Heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback treatment to patients in recovery. Prior to my doctorate, I received my master’s degree from Seoul National University with a research focus on positive and negative perfectionism. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx Hospital. Prior to working at my private practice, I worked as a staff psychologist at the Mount Sinai/Elmhurst Hospital where I served as the Training coordinator to the Substance use disorder track at the pre-doctoral psychology internship program. I also served on faculty at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

In addition to my professional training in psychology, my background in philosophy and theater has influenced my appreciation toward both a phenomenological understanding of psychotherapy and the aesthetic and action-based approach when working with my patients. In recent years, I’ve been in training to develop further expertise in a clinical phenomenological and movement-oriented gestalt therapy approach, the Developmental Somatic Psychotherapy (DSP) at the Center for Somatic Studies. Currently, I am a certified practitioner and a teacher/supervisor of the DSP.
