I provide individual and group psychotherapy to adults. My approach is an experiential one that pays close attention to what emerges in the shared experience of a given session. I strive to provide a safe and firm environment that will support my patients’ exploration and understanding of their current difficulties. During sessions, I often invite my patients to examine what feels possible or not possible for them, how much of the other feels available or unavailable, and how familiar or unfamiliar this feels within their embodied history that is retained in the present moment.
In comparison to a more traditional talk therapy, contemporary gestalt therapy focuses on both the content of what’s being discussed (stories, ideas) and how it’s being discussed. For example, I might invite my patients to pay close attention to their body or movement as they share — do you notice your breathing as you share the story; holding certain parts of your body; a habitual posture or gesture; reaching towards or withdrawing away — without an agenda to critique or correct them. We are the way we are for absolutely valid and important reasons and my interest is to help us understand how we got here first before thinking about moving forward. Paradoxically, lasting change tends to happen when we become fully committed to where we are at this moment with a clear understanding of how we are forming our unique experience in the world.
Structure & Insurance
For individual psychotherapy sessions, I typically meet with my patients for 45 minutes and meet on a weekly basis. I do not provide bi-weekly (every other week) meetings at this time. We can discuss your individual needs and preferences during a brief consultation call.
At this time, I’m an Out-of-Network provider other than the ‘New School Student Health Insurance Plan.' I’d highly recommend to check in with your insurance company and ask them about their deductible and reimbursement policy in regards to Out-of-Network clinicians. I provide a monthly ‘Superbill (invoice)’ that you can submit directly to your insurance company for reimbursement if available.
Fee & Cancellation policy
My current rate for an individual psychotherapy session (45 minutes) is $230.
Please remember to cancel or reschedule 48 hours in advance. If contacted within 48 hours from the scheduled session, I will make every effort to find an alternative time within the same week. If we are unable to find an alternative time, the session will be charged in full. You will be responsible for the entire fee if cancellation is less than 24 hours.
